Rockford Auto Glass found a windshield, but it ain’t cheap. It should arrive in about a week-and-a-half (from California).

Windshield wrong!
Safelite came out to replace the cracked windshield, but they brought the wrong one! What they brought was for a 4-door hardtop rather than a 4-door sedan. Now they say they can’t get the proper one! Aaaaarrrrgggh!
Determined replacement tire size
The original tires are 215/75 R-14, but those are (apparently) no longer available. Went to Discount Tires and they looked up a replacement tire size. Their online guide said to use 215/70 R-14.
Due to the slight difference in size, this will cause the speedometer to read incorrectly. If the speedometer reads 65 MPH, the approximate actual speed will be 64.27 MPH. I think I can live with that slight difference.
Took a few pics
Took a few pictures of it as it sits in my garage prior to any work being done on it.
Got paint and bodywork estimates
Gerber said about 200 hrs at $50 per hour! Maaco was considerably cheaper. Didn’t try anywhere else … at least not yet.
It seems like so many of paint and body shops don’t want to touch “antique” cars — or anything other than insurance-covered collision repairs. You can’t find a paint job under about $10k from most of these shops! The thing these people don’t seem to understand is that I am not trying to create a perfect, Concours quality “trailer queen.” (I just want a decent paint job to make a fun vehicle for driving around and going to cruise nights and such.)
Drove it home!
Ran a little rough. But did pretty good over that short distance.
Dropped off plates
Dropped off plates and insurance card at repair shop so they can road test if needed.
new intake going on
Dave is installing a “new” (junkyard) intake manifold.
Street legal
Registered and picked up AV plates. Will probably consider vanity plates someday, but a random number is fine for now.
Had car hauled for service
By Area’s Best Towing. Driver was in area and got there (to car) before I did!
Hey — at least it’s “on the road” …
