All the bodywork and painting are done and she’s ready to come home!

Check out the Gotham City Bomb Squad truck sitting behind her. That was formerly a USAF ambulance that was converted into a “bomb squad truck” by a company in the area and used in one of the Batman movies!

All the bodywork and sanding have been completed, and they are now cleaning it up in preparation for prime and paint.

Dropped the car off at the body shop to start the bodywork and paint. Estimated time to completion: 2 weeks. They invited me to stop by and check on the progress, and I plan to do so and take photos.

Gerber said about 200 hrs at $50 per hour! Maaco was considerably cheaper. Didn’t try anywhere else … at least not yet.

It seems like so many of paint and body shops don’t want to touch “antique” cars — or anything other than insurance-covered collision repairs. You can’t find a paint job under about $10k from most of these shops! The thing these people don’t seem to understand is that I am not trying to create a perfect, Concours quality “trailer queen.” (I just want a decent paint job to make a fun vehicle for driving around and going to cruise nights and such.)
